Senior Vice President, Technology Modernization, Mutual of Omaha

Brian Poppe is a Senior Vice President leading Technology Modernization at Mutual of Omaha. In this role, Poppe helps Mutual of Omaha’s employees understand the need to modernize their systems, provides a framework for migrating data and systems to the cloud, and influences IT to help deliver solutions in a way that produces customer value, prioritizes speed, and enables analytics.

Previously, Poppe led one of the five business units, where he managed product profitability for the Departing Well Solutions segment, which addresses traditional life insurance customers’ final expense needs. He worked with a cross-functional team to introduce a customer onboarding experience, led a transformation effort within the direct sales team, and increased revenues at a 10% compound annual growth rate for 2017-2019.

Poppe joined Mutual of Omaha in 2009 as an Actuarial Associate. He was promoted to Managing Actuary in 2010, to Financial Actuarial Director of Enterprise Risk Management in 2013, and to Vice President and Actuary, Enterprise Risk Management in 2015. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as Vice President of Innovation Strategy.

Poppe received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has earned the designations of Fellow and Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst from the Society of Actuaries.

He currently serves as a member of UNL’s College of Business Administration’s Young Alumni Board. He is Mutual of Omaha’s alternate member of the Global Insurance Accelerator Board and was recently selected as a member of Leadership Omaha’s Class 42.
