Professor of Practice

David developed and teaches the school’s core sequence in Data and Models, which includes topics from probability and statistics, data science, machine learning, simulation, and optimization. He also teaches the school’s finance course.

David served as the inaugural Director of the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 2001 to 2015. He currently holds appointments a Professor of Practice in the Raikes School, a Courtesy Professor of Business Administration and Courtesy Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. His career has included technical and management positions at three computer systems companies including Hewlett-Packard, two engineering software companies including Engineering Systems International in Paris; Nippon Kokan K.K. the Japanese multinational in Tokyo (now JFE Holdings), and the research faculty at Georgia Tech.

He holds a doctoral degree in engineering from Georgia Tech. He holds a master's of business administration from Southern Methodist University, a master's in finance from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia and a master's in engineering from Georgia Tech. He received his bachelor's degree in engineering from Georgia Tech. David also completed advanced management programs at Harvard, Wharton, and Stanford.
