Teacher, Marian High School

Sharon Genoways has taught at Marian High School since 1993, serving as the Department Chair for most of her tenure. While at Marian, she has taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Programming and a Research Course. She is the co-leader of the school’s technology committee, moderator of the robotics club and trap team and overseen science research projects in conjunction with the University of Nebraska at Omaha through Project HALON (High Altitude Learning Over Nebraska). One of her greatest passions is ensuring that her students understand the need for their talents in the STEM careers, especially engineering and computer science.

She attended college at UNO, earning both a BS and MS in Secondary Education with a Natural Science emphasis and recently completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in STEM education. She continues to be a lifelong learner as she has begun work toward a second Master’s degree in Computer Science.
