The 2023 Raikes School alumni reunion was held on October 27th coinciding with Nebraska's Homecoming Week. Over 40 people attended the event, including alumni and their guests and members of the Raikes School senior class.
Friday's activities began with a tour of Kauffman for 2004 and 2005 graduates. Alumni were able to interact with current students and experience how the Kauffman Center has changed over the years. The evening concluded with a reception at Lazlo's in downtown Lincoln's Haymarket.
During Friday's reception, we recognized cohort 1999 (2003 graduates) who celebrated the first 20-year mark as Raikes School alumni. Cohort 2004 (2008 graduates), cohort 2009 (2013 graduates), and cohort 2014 (2018 graduates) also celebrated their 15, 10, and 5-year graduations, respectively. Guests were also joined by Dave Keck, Professor Emeritus, and his wife Jeanine, sharing stories and laughs throughout the evening.
Executive Director, Steve Cooper, shared an exciting update regarding student scholarships. Thanks to generous donations, cohort 1999, 2000, and 2001's scholarships are fully endowed. A cohort scholarship becoming endowed means Raikes School students will receive support from these Raikes School cohort scholarships in perpetuity.
Raikes School students typically receive significant academic scholarships from the University based on their superior academic achievements. Raikes School scholarships help minimize costs associated with room and board, especially for less affluent students.
