What is Design Studio

The Design Studio faculty and staff of the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management are seeking highly qualified rising Junior & Senior students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering as well as the College of Business Honors Academy to become Raikes School Design Studio Associates this fall.  (Currently we can only offer Capstone substitution for those majors, but we are happy to talk with your advisor about how Design Studio might fit into your academic plan!)

How is Design Studio Different?

The Design Studio class is made up of real-world product development and software engineering projects for local, regional, and national companies such as Microsoft, Hudl, Spreetail, Mutual of Omaha, Olsson, Kiewit, and many others.  The projects go through the entire software development life cycle and span the entire academic year.  These projects vary in subject matter, but all end in an innovative technology deliverable.  We work with numerous exciting technologies including .NET, JavaScript, machine learning, data analytics, Web Services, mobile, cloud, artificial intelligence, etc. and get to learn from and collaborate with many experts in the field.

The experience you would receive through these projects is unmatched from any other class on campus or even in most universities.  This is truly a unique and very beneficial opportunity.  We also have several options with how Design Studio can fit into your academic plans and count towards your degree and graduation.  It is a direct and complete substitution for Senior Design.
