On September 6th and 7th, the Raikes School celebrated the 10-year anniversary of Jeff and Tricia's gift to the Raikes School. We often cannot believe it's been 10 years since the J.D. Edwards Honors Program became the Raikes School.
The two-day event was a coordinated effort between University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Ronnie Green's office and the University of Nebraska Foundation. Thursday evening started with a cocktail reception at Hudl. The Raikes School Advisory Board intermingled with Raikes School alumni who now work at Hudl. Hudl then hosted an amazing dinner party for more than 100 guests - students, staff, faculty, administrators, university leaders, Raikes School alumni, business and civic leaders. Coach Tom Osborne was a surprise guest and speaker at the event, along with Raikes School senior Cat Nyberg, and Chancellor Green. The evening included many video tributes to Jeff and Tricia, from current Raikes School students, Raikes School alumni, Bill Gates, Governor Doug Burgum, current and former university chancellors and UN presidents. We hope to receive permission from the Foundation and the speakers to share these videos soon. When we do have access, we'll upload videos to our Raikes School YouTube channel.
Friday featured Jeff Raikes giving the Fall Board keynote address, entitled A Purposeful Life, to the entire Raikes School community. Several media outlets included tidbits from Jeff's talk in their reporting. Jeff had several great pieces of advice for all of us.
