After serving as the director of Design Studio since 2012, Ian Cottingham accepted a position with Amazon Web Services in November, relocating to Seattle last month.
Around the same time, University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds announced a hiring moratorium. The state of Nebraska had overestimated some revenue expectations, and the resulting revenue shortfall was going to lead to a need to cut back on the state’s support of the universities (among other spending cuts). Fortunately, we have been given a special exemption to this moratorium to be allowed to hire a new Design Studio Director. We are now looking for someone passionate about what we do, and someone interested in working with our amazing students, with our sponsors, and with the rest of the Raikes school staff to lead Design Studio to new heights.
