Deepa Buss is Events and Projects Coordinator at the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she supports the goals of the Raikes School by managing events and student focused projects, including the development of event strategy, and the design, management, and execution of Raikes School-related events. She assists in the implementation of Recruitment and Student Success, Design Studio, and administrative events. Examples of these events include recruitment events, residential summer camps, outreach events, interview days, orientation activities, career and research fairs, all school meetings, senior recognition and end-of-year celebrations, student and alumni engagement, speakers, Raikes School Corporate Advisory Board meetings, the Design Studio Showcases, and various Design Studio networking events.

Deepa worked for the Nebraska state government for 22 years in various roles and state agencies. Most recently, she was the Communications Manager at the Nebraska Department of Revenue. She then worked in several nonprofit organizations in Lincoln to follow her passion for advocacy. Among them, she was Director of Volunteers at Clinic with a Heart, and Organizing Manager at Nebraska Appleseed. In all of her roles, she found herself volunteering for event planning duties, so having it in her job title makes all kinds of sense and is a dream come true!

Deepa grew up mostly in Carmel, Indiana (a suburb of Indianapolis). She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration at Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) in Bloomington, Indiana. She was chosen to participate in the Washington Leadership Program and spent the first semester of her senior year interning at the Council of State Governments in Washington, D.C. Deepa was also a resident assistant in the residence life program (dorms) for 2 years. After graduating, she immediately followed up with a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) from the same school in Bloomington.

Deepa is a Nebraska Husker sports fan (when they're not playing the Indiana Hoosiers). She enjoys: traveling; watching and listening to all kinds of movies, music, and theater; sings; and loves to play cards and board games with family and friends. Her rescue dog (Penny) is a tri-pod, and her cat (Cooper) is an "old man", and she thinks they might actually "love" each other.
