Drew is a Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) counselor embedded at the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management. His role is to support the wellbeing of Raikes School students by providing not only individual counseling services, but also offering informal support and outreach.
Drew has extensive experience as a psychotherapist in Nebraska. His career has included work with children, adolescents, and adults in residential, day-treatment, outpatient, and detention settings. He spent the 15 years prior to coming to the Raikes School as the owner of solo and group private outpatient counseling practices where he focused on blending cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based therapeutic interventions. In addition to his clinical career, Drew also has experience in the blue collar world establishing, building, and eventually selling a successful outdoor contracting business.
Drew earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He returned to IU to complete a Master of Science in Education degree with an emphasis on Counseling and Counselor Education.
Drew enjoys music, especially attending live performances with his wife. He is a University of Nebraska and Indiana University sports fan (football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, baseball, softball...pretty much all of the balls) and he also follows the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers. Additionally, Drew is a daily meditator, a sometimes yoga practitioner, and he teaches a group experience open to the community called Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
