Dr. Seth Polsley is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with his academic home in the School of Computing.
Prior to joining UNL, Polsley received a BS in Computer Engineering (2014) from the University of Kansas and an MS (2017) and PhD (2023) in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University. He was recognized as a Graduate Teaching Fellow for multiple terms at A&M, managing curriculum design and teaching for both graduate and undergraduate computer science courses. Some of his awards include the James Blackiston Memorial Graduate Fellowship and the Sigma Xi Research Award.
His research focuses on the combination of intelligent systems design and human-computer interaction in order to support novel educational and universal computing experiences. He has worked on intelligent tutoring systems, brain-computer interfaces, natural language processors for medical and legal texts, and more, including his dissertation research of building a software tool capable of determining children’s fine motor development through fun sketching activities.
A computer history hobbyist and general tech enthusiast, Polsley has also worked for organizations such as Lexmark International and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Lab.
